LJ borked

Dec. 28th, 2016 02:14 pm
I'm not really here yet - I have a thanks post to make soon and am out until tonight, but thought I'd post the link for LJ support, given the site's so borked it's nigh on impossible to get (it was sitting in my history).

You can submit a ticket here: https://www.livejournal.com/support/submit

LJ support are historically useless when it comes to problems that are above the paygrade of the excellent volunteers, but it can't hurt.

A couple of people who I don't have on twitter/facebook pinged me to check I was okay after the tragedy in my city yesterday, so I thought I should check in in case anyone else was concerned.

I'm fine, my family are all fine and I think now all my friends have checked in as well - including 2 who were in the immediate area of the accident and 2 who work just down the road. We're mostly just all a bit shaken and so very sad.

For those that don't know, yesterday a bin lorry (garbage truck) lost control in one of the busiest streets in the biggest city in Scotland (Glasgow) at half past two in the afternoon, when many, many people were out doing last minute Christmas shopping (now that the kids are off school) or having festive office lunches. It hit one lady, then plowed on over the pavement (sidewalk) and crashed into a hotel at the entrance to Queen St station. 6 people are dead, 10 injured with 6 of those still in hospital, two in intensive care.

A good (although very upsetting) first hand account is here

If anyone needs support - and the advice that's being given at the moment is to keep talking about it - please contact the Samaritans by calling 08457 90 90 90 or emailing jo@samaritans.org

The blood donation service have advised that they currently have full stocks (but that new regular donors are always welcome), so the requests for support are currently being directed at supporting the Samaritans (donate here). I suspect there will be something set up for the families affected in due course, once more details are released.

I have an utterly stonking hangover (which is far worse than I deserve, given what I drank last night but is probably a great deal to do with staying up till 4am talking with my uni roommate, and then got up again at 10 to make her brunch and TALK MORE. We haven't physically been in the same space for years, and she came to our hogmanay dinner last night and stayed over :D. She lives VERY FAR AWAY but is intending to MOVE BACK HOME this year :D :D. This makes me extremely happy HURRAH) but other than feeling slightly like someone's dug me up and reanimated me 2014 is not bad at all :).

Okay, so, today is the first day of the snowflake challenge:

Day One

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Which got me thinking, because my fannish output last year felt quite low because of life things (mostly fucking brilliant life things, it's a good problem to have...) but actually I wrote and published 25,810 words, which isn't entirely shabby :).

Some of my hit counts are a bit...odd, but a lot of that's due to me having to archive lock and only minimally cross-post towards the end of 2012 and the first half or so of 2013 and now those stories are all (hopefully, I think...but I've got a hangover, so) unlocked so maybe they'll start to get a little more foot-fall. Anyway, 3 fanworks:

Lights are Dim and Your Heart is Racing (684 words) by ermengarde
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Bandom, Panic! at the Disco
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Brendon Urie/others
Characters: Brendon Urie, Spencer Smith, Ryan Ross, Brent Wilson
Summary:

Brendon's kind of...well, like, see, Brendon wasn't super popular in high school, and he's kind of aware that sometimes he somehow pisses people off by existing, but, like, you know, he's in a band now and they're like kind of famousish? And, well, anyway, he's got friends now, even if sometimes they throw things at his head and tell him to fuck off. They tell him to fuck off with love.

Wherein Brendon knows that fucking isn't about popularity, not really, but he's willing to try it anyway.

Is basically a snippety Bb!Bden early days character study type thing, but I quite like it and it got little to no love at all, which makes me sad-in-the-face

A Seasonally Appropriate Holiday Special Tune (3475 words) by ermengarde
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Bandom, My Chemical Romance
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, Bandit Way, Bert McCracken, Lindsey Ballato
Additional Tags: Christmas, A Christmas Carol
Summary:

Gerard doesn't want to do the Yo Gabba Gabba Holiday show, it's too creatively stifling. Over the course of one night he is visited by three ghosts (well, four, but two of them are Frank) who try to change his mind.

I worked SO HARD on this one, but I think the harking back to Dickensian English a wee bit (mostly at the start) put people off.

And finally the one that only revealed as me today :D:

The Snow is Always Better on the Outside (And it Always is With You) (6069 words) by ermengarde
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Bandom, My Chemical Romance
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Frank Iero/Mikey Way
Characters: Frank Iero, Mikey Way, Gerard Way
Summary:

Mikey hates that they're so desperate that Frank's resorting to Gabe's weird drugs to get better. Frank needs fucking health insurance.

Okay, so Sherlock in twenty minutes and the snowflake post already has a bunch of people's posts linked that I can go through and check out :D. Oh! and I need a new default icon :)
